Question about biometrics(India & US)

I received my study permit in 2017 after applying from India( gave biometrics at VFS bangalore). I recently applied for visit visa from US and had to give biometrics again. I thought biometrics was valid for 10yrs?

check when you answer the question on the system, did you tick yes to the q saying “have you ever given biometrics in the last 10 years?”

or a more accurate way is to check the validity of your previous biometrics on cic website.

That’s the thing. I assumed they would have my biometrics since I already gave it in 2017 (since you can’t get a study permit without one) and answered yes to that question. Then later realized that they didn’t have it (don’t know what happened to the one I gave in 2017) and had to give it again. Do they not accept biometrics from vfs India? Would this have a negative impact on my application?
