Hi everyone
My application date for citizenship is December 01 2010. After submitting and sending the documentation, I have to leave Canada and come back my country for some reasons. Should I let them know that I am leaving.... If you experience this situation before, please advice me. Thanks.

You do not have to let them know that you are leaving for a short time but get someone to monitor your mail and phone messages or use a mail forward and check your own phone messages to avoid missing attempts from them to contact you.

If you are actually moving back to your old country for a long time, then you can let them know that you have a change of address.

According to the CIC, you should advise them of any absences from Canada that last 2 weeks or longer.

As far as I know, after the date application kits are submitted, an acknowledgment letter1 will be sent to you approximately about 6 months. Therefore, I plan to be absent about 6 or up to 9 months. I do have someone to monitor my mails. Should I advise them by letter ( will be sent together with application kits) or should I give them a call and which number I have to reach. Thanks
1: I am not sure this is the name of this letter. However, I am pretty sure that its content is CIC are going to arrange the date for your citizenship exam.

You can see the timeline here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/cit-processing.asp

The acknowledgement letter should just be a statement saying they received your application. You will be called for the exam later. When I applied, I got the AOR very fast, in about 2 months but then I did not hear from them again for almost 2 and a half years. Then they sent me a letter with the exam date which they gave me about 2 weeks notice to attend and and 2 months later they sent me a letter for the ceremony date, again with about 2 weeks notice.
