I am international student in USA. I have applied for Canadian skilled based immigration in 2009 and I got file number in Oct. 2009. Then they informed about the case transfer to Buffalo, New York and I sent all documents over there. Then I got email on June 2010 by Immigration that my immigration process started and case is transferred to Los Angeles, Ca and they will decide whether I need interview or not and also if they need any additional documents. After some days I got email and they demanded IELTS, FBI & police certificate and also financial statement for funds and gave me 4 months for all this stuff. In last 4th month I sent all and they confirmed as received.
I have two questions:-

1. What should I expect or how much it can take more for their decision because I found information on website that it takes 8-12 months for Canadian immigration from USA.
2. Will they call for personal interview or it can be done without interview......?
3. During the process or before their decision, can I apply and get Canadian visitor or tourist visa? Because I have heard for some countries like USA, the person applied for one kind of visa and during the process person cannot apply for another kind of visa.

Thanx.

1. Nobody can tell you exactly how long because every case is different but if you go to trackitt.com you can look at others peoples timelines to compare.

2. You might not need an interview.

3. Yes, you can apply for a tourist visa to visit Canada even though your PR application is being processed.
