Guys,

Quick question that I couldn't find an answer to on any other threads in this forum.

Basically, I was a student between January 2012 and June 2014. During this period, I did a co-op (full time work while being a student) between Sep 2013 - Apr 2014. So while doing a co-op I was still technically a student and the degree required the completion of the co-op. But while I was working, I was not studying. And I had to get a co-op work permit during this period.

Now in Questions 9c, will I report as being a student through that period (jan 2012-June 2014) or better to break down time into student and co-op worker?

Thanks

I put in my Study period (jan 2013-Dec 2014 in my case) first, then listed all jobs I had when I was in school (during summer break or not).
I received my AoR already, so I assume that worked!

Can you elaborate on your dates? When were you a co-op? In Q9c did you put student for the entire period?

I did not have a co-op permit, I had a V1 permit and was allowed to work 20 hours/week for the duration of my course.

I listed like this (from most recent to least recent)

September 2013-January 2014- JOB 2 (note this is included in the period below for school)
June 2013-July 2013- JOB 1 (note this is included in the period below for school)
Jan 2013-Dec 2014- school

You can do the same, I believe. The fact that it was a co-op permit wont effect this part, as you will probably disclose that in the 9.B portion of the form (where you're supposed to describe the status you held).

I actually meant 9b of the application for.. 9 (c) is just a yes or no

SO i have broken down my student period.. so where I was in school that was 'student' but while i was a co-op.. I put down co-op worker.. then back to the 'student'

Did you have 2 different study permits from before and after co-op?

No I had to have a valid study permit between Jan 2012 and June 2014 while I was a student. The co-op work permit was only issued so I could work part of my studies. And for the co-op permit to be issued I needed to have a valid student status.

So while I had the coop permit, I also had a valid student status. (sep 13 -may 14)

Then I would list it as (XX being the day the status was granted/finished):

Co-op Temporary Worker - xx-09.13 - xx.05.14
International Student - xx.01.2012 - xx.06.14

One time period is encompassed in the one below, you don't need to list the study permit twice. Above the Co-op Temporary worker entry, you would continue to list your statuses prior to PR etc

This is my understanding of it, anyway :)
