Hello,

Can anyone help me w this question please?

After my masters degree I have worked for a Professor's project and was paid by him personally (i.e. not through the University). If he provides me a letter of employment in his pad (with University letterhead) would that qualify as a valid work experience for CEC? I have almost 9 months full-time work experience (shown in my pay-stub from University), so it would be good for me if I could add those 3 months full-time equivalent work (done in 7 months, as part-time Research job) from that Prof.

Thanks in advance,
Saschi

Hi Saschi,
Your question is not very clear. Just to clarify:
1) What kind of employment is the 9 months full-time work experience from the University? Research job? You need to be aware of the NOC code.
2) Was the 9 months experience obtained with the same Professor as the one you worked with on a 7 months part-time research project? If yes, he/she can just write one letter with details showing which work you did full-time or part-time, over what length of time, for how many hours/week.......
As long your supervisor(s) is/are willing to write reference letters indicating number of hours worked/week, amount paid to you, duties performed, duration of the employment (from..to), you should be OK if you can accumulate 1950 hrs in the 1 year following completion of your Masters,

See below the CEC requirement for the 1 year full-time work:

The full-time work experience requirement may be met by the equivalent in part-time paid work experience, e.g. more than one part-time job held simultaneously or one or more part-time jobs held over the equivalent of one year of full-time work. Experience can be calculated by adding up the number of weeks of full-time work, i.e. 37.5 hours per week in one job or a total of at least 37.5 hours per week in more than one job, in one or more of the NOC categories.

All the best.

and, as I mentioned in the other thread, you should have some tax-related evidence too... T4, notice of assessment, tax return ...
