Query related to passport For OINP program

Hi All,

My passport is valid for 1 year 8 months but as per conditions to apply for OINP, it should be minimum valid for 2 years. They have mentioned if you can't renew then give proof.

As per govt. of India policy for renewal of passport, you can renew your passport only before 1year of expiry date.

What proof can I give?

I would think you could print out an official statement of India's policy and attach it to your application. But I have a similar question. My US passport will expire in 9 months. I have not been able to renew my passport yet because I have been traveling recently, and I have needed to have my passport (for example, to take the IELTS exam!). I do not want to renew it before moving to Canada because it takes 6-8 weeks to renew a passport here, and you have to submit your current passport with your renewal application, which means I would be without a passport for those 6-8 weeks. And I am waiting on a job offer in Canada after having told the company that I would be available to start quickly, so I don't want my lack of passport to prevent me from moving to Canada to start working. I don't know what I should do about my passport situation?? I would like ideally to renew my passport shortly after I move to Canada.
