Dear members,

I am in dilemma "from where I should get my PCC?"
1. I am currently residing/working in Noida(Uttar Pradesh) from past 1 year. So PCC from Noida??
2. My Native(Permanent address and Passport issued to this address) is in Punjab(I spend around 10 days in a month there). I can get PCC from Punjab easily so I would prefer to get it done from there.

I have 2 friends who got PR last year, one of them used option 1 and other used option2.

Please help and advise from where should i submit my PCC as per norms.

Hi,

PCC from India can be taken from any where within India.

If you take in Noida , you can apply personally and collect it in person.

Or check which place will get u fast and prefer that.

Regards,
Sreeni

Get it from punjab as thats your permanenet address and one on the passport. Go with option 2.

In case someone commits a crime anywhere in india, the copy of complaint is sent to your local police station corresponding to the address to your passport.

Get it done from nearest passport seva kendra in noida itself. My situation was similar. Unknowingly I applied at my permanent address which is in chandigarh and I had to pay to rs. 5000 as penalty to close that application and also lost precious 20 days due to that. There is no link between police departments of various Indian states. That is true for India. I later applied from gurgaon where I have been living since more than an year now. Better get it done from your current city where you have been living since last one year.

Well if you are not present at the time on enquiry, thats a different issue. PCC for punjab can be obtained from your SSP office. It takes 10 days and no money at all.

I beg to differ on the statement that their is no link. For any IPC crime a copy of complaint has to be sent to local PS. I know this for fact.

The way police behaved clearly demonstrated that police wings of different Indian states have no central crime database like we have in Australia or USA. Wherever you are living since last one year, enquiry shall be conducted at that place only and not at any other address. If you are found unavailable at particular address, PCC won't be given and you may also be penalised. Pathetic system in India. You may conceal facts from police and get away with that but if police gets to know about your whereabouts he will send "adverse police verification report" and then your PCC will get stuck. Better option is apply from your current city.

In India criminal database of one state has nothing to do with any other state.

I lived there n Australia for 2 yrs. No police verification happened for me. I applied online and received my PCC in 10 days. In India most important clause for PCC is to verify whether person is living at that address or not. Whether there is any pending outcome against his/ her name comes later and may be not in many cases.

So if i have an outstanding case in UP does that mean i will get all clear from Punjab? That will be flawed system.

Most important clause of PCC is to ensure their is no adverse crimal case outstanding against a person. He is clear of crimal charges. Passport is enough to prove that you stay on that address because one can only get a pasport of particular address if he/she has stayed their for 1 year. The PCC for passport is to ensure this fact.

A PCC for immigration is strictly for criminal clearance. If someone differ from this statement can prove me otheriwse i will be happy to yield.

Whatever you said is theoretically correct but practically it is not. Yes system is flawed in India. No doubt about it. Though PCC will state that "applicant has no adverse court outcome" or similar wordings. However, in actual practice if you commit a crime in Punjab, then shift to UP, make a registered rent agreement or buy a property (ADDRESS PROOF) there and get settled there, 90% chances are you will get clear PCC after an year. 10% may be not, just in case your crime gets a decent media attention. That's my friend is true for India. The criminal databases of two states are not linked here. Well that's what I understood from police behaviour.

Lets not argue about it and present a solution to the person who raised a query. I am sure we confused the hell out of him.

Manpreet, you can try it from your local PS and if they are ready to give it to you, go for it, and if they arent, get one from punjab. In short 1 PCC per country(stayed for 6 months or more) is all you want.
