Hi All - Please help with query below:
In my family, we all have Canadian Permanent Residence and will be eligible to apply for Canadian Citizenship by June this year. Currently, we are a family of 5 members. My wife, myself and our youngest son hold India Passport with Canadian PR and the other 2 kids hold US passports with Canadian PR as they were born in the USA. I would like to apply for Canadian citizenship for myself, my wife and my youngest son who holds an Indian Passport but I don't want to apply for Canadian citizenship for the two kids who are US passport holders and want them to continue with US passport and Canadian PR.
My question is that once I get my Canadian Citizenship then will my two kids who are holding US passport and Canadian PR be able to renew their Permanent residence as I will no more be PR holder after becoming Canadian citizen. I am having this question because I believe they got their Canadian PR as my dependent and I was the primary applicant for their PR process but if the primary applicant is no more holding the PR and becomes the Candian citizen then what happens to the dependent PR holders who did not apply for Canadian citizenship. Will I be able to apply for extension of PR for my kids who have US passport and Canadian PR once I move from PR to Canadian citizen?
