I did my medicals yesterday.today i just went to the doctor's counter to submit a photocopy that i forgot to bring yesterday..i just formaly asked the lab attendant about my test reports ..he told me my urinalysis was ok but my spouse has got RBCs and Pus cells in it ..i was totally shocked as i already got mine n her urinalysis just a day back from another lab and that was perfectly ok..
i dont know whether that attendant was looking for something else (money) from us or he might be right..
plz guide if it really happens then what will be the consequences??
A female urine usually can get RBCs in small amounts in it as urinary tract infections are very common in them..
Further before monthly cycles and during cycles its very understood that urine can have RBCs..
Also retaining urine for some time in bladder and then evacuating it with pressure also sometimes corrodes the internal epithelial lining resulting the enterance of RBCs in urine in small amounts..
So small amount of RBCs in urine is not a big deal as it can happen in all of the above three reasons other than some major infection..
But the point is doctors at CHC really understands this scenario or they will ask for re-medicals just bcz of little RBCs in blood???

PLz comment on it as we r really very worried about it ..
Thanks in advance

The comment made by the Med attendant is not an official statement. wait for the DMP to comment. You can also call the DMP and ask him of his opinion. DMP will generally inform you personally if a re-Med is required or not.

The presence of RBC/Pus cells seems trivial for obvious reasons and in IMO, should not require a Re-med.

You can call....and you dont have to mention anything regarding wht the attendant told you. Just ask him if the Meds were okay and if you need to do anything else. Please retain all the receipts of the Meds examination.

I dont think you should worry about this.

the DMP will definitely look at the results and if there is an issue s/he will contact you if further tests are required.

the problem with traces of blood in urine is that it could be due to kidney stones.

if the DMP does not request further tests, it means that s/he believes that the results are OK.

Hi WS,

To assess possibility of re-med,i need to kw the urine report.let me kw the count of rbcs and pus cells,r there any other findings in urine?

Presence of pus cells and rbc in urine indicates urine infection and inf of such kind will not interfere with ur process but the inf cd b due to some underlying renal problem,if such suspicion arises then yes it demands further tests.information abt rate of inf and other findings will b deciding factors.

Ur understanding abt possibilities of bl in urine in certain situations i agree to some extent,

1.female urinary tract is short and prone to rpted infections,in this case urine will show both rbc and pus cells, not just rbc.
2.during menstrual cycles bl can b found in urine but not significant pus cells.
3.very very rarely, long standing urine in CHRONICALLY ILL AND ELDERLY persons does produce rbc on straining for urine.in young healthy individual, presence of significant rbcs is a workup case.

Ur wife case doesnt fit into above three possible reasons bec there r pus cells also in urine.
With given info,it looks clearly as simple inf, which is common in young women for several reasons and its not a concern.

I rpt i need full report to guide further.

Rgds,
Art.
