Hi guys quick question. I'm employed full time in Quebec (with +1.5 years of work experience) but applying through CEC with intent to reside in Ontario. I know I have to provide credible reason why i want to live in Ontario but does anyone know if there's a time duration in which i'll be expected to move once my application is processed? Will they try to rush me to move because I might have to stay in Quebec another year or so before I can move.

let me know please!! thanks.

IRCC cannot force you to move anywhere, that decision is entirely up to you.

Your application will be approved or rejected based on your explanation and proof that you will reside outside of Quebec.

Thanks! what i actually mean is would they need proof of when exactly i'm moving?

I'm going to add the following to support my intention to reside in Ontario:
  • strong family ties - my uncle lives there and is a canadian citizen
  • possibility of getting a transfer from work to be based in Ontario
  • better work opportunities for my husband to find a job (its not easy to find one in montreal since both of us dont speak french)
But is this enough 'proof' or they also need to know specific date when I will move and can sort of hold me against it?

Use the search feature of this forum and look for what applicants provided when requested a "letter of intent" during the processing of their application.

A specific date would strengthen your case such as the start date of a new job or date when you'll start living there (lease) but I've seen applicants get through without it.

I have an unusual case and I need help!
An opportunity has come up where I can work for a company based in Gatineau, Quebec, but live in Ottawa under an IEC visa (for international internship).

If I apply for the IEC visa now, I'll probably have it by November (processing time is 2 to 3 months).

I'll also complete 3 years work experience at my current job in the UAE and have a CRS score of 456 by November and be eligible for PR via Express Entry as FSW.

My question is, would it be too risky to go and apply for the IEC visa at this time? I'm worried I'd be opening myself up to questions about intent to remain in Quebec when applying for Express Entry despite living on the Ottawa side of the ontario/quebc border.

Any thoughts on this? @DelPiero07 ?

These are just reasons why you might want to move to Ontario, they do not represent any specific plans or actions you are currently taking to make that happen. Are you - or your husband - conducting a job search in Ontario? Document it. Job transfer? Get a letter from your employer. Looking for housing? Sign a lease. Plan to stay with your uncle for a while? Get a letter from him. If your PR is approved, you are expected to land and reside in Ontario, not move back to Quebec for some time before moving to Ontario.

But is this enough 'proof' or they also need to know specific date when I will move and can sort of hold me against it?
They can't hold it against you. That is why they want to see evidence before they approve. Not saying it won't be approved, but I have seen some cases refused, and would strongly suggest having something more concrete...
