Congratulations! I am really happy for you. Weren't you with a lawyer? Regarding money, I was advised by almost everyone to bring as much as I can. You can open a Canadian bank account and transfer your money or ask a relative to transfer it to you while being in Canada.
Thank you. hope you hear good news soon as will. and yes I was with a lawyer. although if i let a relative wire the money to me is that money taxable or not? and shouldnt i declare that i have X money in my accounts in overseas?

As far as I know you will not pay taxes for your savings. I even heard that if you are getting money from abroad, say on monthly basis, you will not pay taxes. Yet, I advise you to ask your lawyer as this matter can be tricky. Your lawyer didn't ask you to send him your passport to forward it to Abu Dhabi visa office?

No. and the lawyer does not handle post-landing and settlement issues. also i did inform hem that i recieved my passport back with visa she responded with congratulation & she informed me that my case closed with the office. you are on your own as soon as the visa in hand.

yes, it's possible and perfectly normal. I am in-land applicant. I got my Medical Request on June 30 and RPRF on July 21. But from what you indicated, did you receive AOR (Nov 25) after Medical Request (Oct 19)? That sound strange to me... (or is your AOR date September 25 actually? I mean: is it a typo? the timeline on your Profile shows that your federal AOR is September 24)

yes, kind of, indeed, I plan to do a day trip in the US and then land on the way back---very likely i would do it on the day after the CoPR arrives in my mailbox. (if I finally decide not to take a day off from work, i will then do it on Saturday.)
what about you?

Hey, everyone.

Umm, did anyone notice that CIC processing times just went up to 13 months?

I know it is not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe older cases were resolved and that's why it is showing longer processing times. Still... I would much rather see that time go down than up. Has anyone read or heard anything on the matter??

Good luck to everyone!

O that's true! I just took a look after reading your message: the processing time now for QSW is 13 months on cic website.
But we have had some good news recently. Several of us who filed the applications from late December (~Dec 30) to early January (~Jan 4) have got our PPR and Decision Made status this week (January 5-6 2017). I believe probably it's a small adjustment and temporary slowing down due to holidays. Last year around the same time the average processing time was something like 16 or 17 months (the longest average processing time for QSW on CIC website I have ever seen is 18 months), it then went down significantly throughout the year. I believe it may go down again.

If we get the visa on the same day, we should probably do it together. ;)

wow I think that will be awesome.

a couple of days ago I mentioned here, specifically addressing @alemom, that I have imagined such a scene in which she and her family and I (now including you @Doris801), do our landing process together--technically of course we will do it separately, but how great it will be if we can all arrange to do it around the same time at the same Port of Entry?
i am just not sure how feasible it can be :)
are you planning to spend a day in the US first on that day?

Hi guys, do you need a US visa to do the landing? Or you don't need to cross the US border at all?
Thanks!
