That studying french in AF-Cebu may be reimbursed once you get in Quebec...

Since April 1, 2009, the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles is reimbursing up to C$1500 to immigrants holding a Certificat de selection du Québec (CSQ – Quebec selection certificate) who took French language courses abroad after October 22, 2008.

The amount you can claim (up to a maximum of C$1,500) is the sum you paid and that was recorded on an official receipt issued by the educational institution where you took your course. The conversion into Canadian currency of the sum you paid for your course will be calculated on the date on which the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles (MICC) received your request for reimbursement.

*Conditions of eligibility for reimbursement

To be eligible for a reimbursement, you must:

Hold a Québec selection certificate (CSQ) before beginning the French course;
Have taken your course with a Ministère partner;
Have completed the course after October 22, 2008;
Be at least 16 years of age when the course began.
* All these conditions are mandatory.

Important: The deadline for submitting your request is one year after obtaining the permanent residence.

The MICC has signed agreements with over 109 educational institutions around the world. Most of these institutions belong to the Alliance française network. At the time of your registration, the institution must confirm to you that it is a signatory of a francization agreement with the MICC.

Reimbursement request form

The reimbursement request form (in French - PDF, 65 Kb) includes a section to be completed by the student and a section to be completed by the educational institution. Before leaving your country of origin, ask the educational institution where you took your course to provide all of the information requested on the form, to sign it and to stamp it with the institution’s seal.

Note: Be sure to keep this document in a safe place as the MICC only accepts originals (form and supporting documents).

You cannot send your form from your country of origin because it requires certain information that you can only obtain once you have arrived in Québec.

January 28 ko sinend yung sakin...Baka tapos na yung pasahan kapag dumating sa bahay yun...

sad to say they use regular mail when returning the documents kaya medyo matagal, about 2 months, so malapit lapit mo ng matanggap yun sayo haha joke, anyway don't worry extended naman starting april 1, almost half pa lang nagpasa sa 20k as of feb 28, matagal pa yan bago mapuno...

no, the time when your file was opened is different from the time they issue your aor

Hope it helps so that we may start learning French and about the French Lesson Reimbursement, you may be eligible for reimbursement if you already have a CSQ, which most of us don't have yet.

At least they will reimburse us the fee we paid to learn french once we get the csq and landed in Quebec...it's a nice gesture from them.

pag may course ka di natapos at nag shift ka ng ibang course (engineering) at natapos mo ang engineering kailangan pa ba i declare sa application for selection certificate yung di mo natapos na course?

nice! regarding sa points yung diba if you reach the minimum points.

A single applicant must score at least 49 points based on the criteria below. An applicant with a spouse or common-law/conjugal partner must score at least 57 points.

Up to an additional 6 points may be awarded upon the interview for Adaptability. With these points awarded, a single applicant must score a minimum of 55 points. An applicant with a spouse or common-law/conjugal partner must score at least 63 points.

No one knows except Quebec immigration officers kung ano talaga specific criteria to waive interview. Some applicants kahit priority and they have points more than what is required eh na interview pa rin, so para safe, set nalang natin minds natin that we will be called for interview kahit sobra pa yung points natin at least kung ma waive man parang icing on cake nalang yun diba instead of being disappointed if di ma waive ang interview.

Imho, acquired studies not related to your claimed profession are not worth mentioning, concentrate only with the degree where you have gained points

You nailed it on the head. As for me, (modesty aside) our points were more than enough to waive an interview but we were still scheduled to have one. Okay lang din kasi after the interview, I was holding the the certificate like it was a gift fallen from heaven. ;D
