Hello,

I've sponsored my partner (who is from France) while residing in quebec. Right now he doesn't have any health coverage and we went to the Régie de l'assurance maladie de Quebec office in Montreal to see if he could sign up for it since he has already received his CSQ from Quebec and we are just waiting on the federal government. To our surprise, he actually can get medical insurance now through them. However, the one thing we are missing is a letter from the federal government confirming that they have received the letter from the Quebec government saying that he has been granted his CSQ. The problem is that we haven't received this letter yet. It's been three months already and we are starting to doubt it's existence. Did anyone else ever receive this letter? From our experience so far, we don't expect to hear from them until something changes on his file.

Has anyone else had success signing up for Quebec health coverage?

I am also in Quebec and going through inland sponsorship. I havent tried to get health insurance because I was told you need to have a work permit, csq, AND AIP (approval in principal) which takes 14-18 months. So thats probably the letter they are referring to.

Same here, have tried so many times with a different approach to get RAMQ, but the only way is with a work permit, CSQ and AIP or DM. The other option ofcourse is with CSQ and COPR, otherwise it will be rejected (and I speak from experience, have tried twice, once with an open work permit and copy of my lease, wasn't enough. Then again with the same plus a CSQ, still wasn't enough. So I will try again after landing in two weeks with CSQ, copy of my lease and my COPR, that should do the trick :P

Sorry, I forgot to add that he has the open work permit from that pilot program that was granting them to inland applicants. We were told by RAMQ that the open work permit, our lease and the letter from the federal government confirming that they received the the CSQ was enough. I'm guess the AIP is what they were referring to :(

Thanks!

I hope it works out for you this time!

Haha so do I. And as to AIP, they usual process would be sponsor approval with CSQ request, then when the CSQ is issued you get AIP, so that might be why they referred to CSQ received, while in fact it is Approval in Principle, which means that you are eligible for applying for PR in Quebec.
