Hello,

I am applying to sponsor from Quebec my girlfriend from South Korea. We are applying out of Canada. It is causing me grief trying to figure out which forms to fill and send in.

Can you tell me if this looks right?

Step 1 fill in the following forms and send to Mississauga:
IMM 5491 - yes
IMM 1344 - yes
IMM 5540 - yes
IMM 5481 - no
IMM 5491 - not clear
IMM 5409 - not clear
IMM 5476 - if using a representative
IMM 5401 - yes

Step 2 for Quebec
Letter from CIC
Undertaking application form - Family class
Sponsor’s or Co-signatory Spouse’s Declaration of Authorization
Application for Selection Certificate
Quebec checklist

Step 3 Wait
MICC sends acceptance letter to CIC
CIC proceeds with application

Thanks for any insight you may have!

ok i'll try to help my only problem is that i don't remember the forms by number but by title: this is what i filled in in december last year; also keep in mind that i filled old forms and follow old checklist but hope u'll have a rough idea

sponsor side:

application to sponsor (imm 1344)
sponsor questionnaire
(the rest were not applicable for quebec)

applicant side:

application for pr
family members details (abt parents, siblings, children)
schedule 1 / background declaration
sponsored spouse questionnaire
region specific form

for quebec and canada u don't need the co-signatory declaration; u cannot have a co-signer when u sponsor spouse/partner; the co-signer happens when u sponsor parents, siblings and there is an income requirement and the co-signer is ur spouse/partner

for quebec what u miss is the payment form (if u pay by credit card) and the sponsor return declaration form (if the sponsor currently lives outside canada); also u will need to give proof of id and proof of address in quebec; also for quebec is not required to submit the checklist ;) and again for quebec make sure u (the sponsor) fill in ur forms in French

bonne chance!!

you need to wait until CIC tells you for an undertake in quebec (step 2)

he applies outland not inland; the processes r not always the same; but yeah in this case he needs to wait for the cic letter first and then apply for quebec; i think that he understood also already :)

Ok from your comments I understand this:

Step 1 fill in the following forms and send to Mississauga:
Sponsor side
IMM 1344 - Application to sponsor, sponsorship agreement
IMM 5540 - Sponsor questionnaire
IMM 5476 - if using a representative
IMM 5481 - not applicable for Quebec sponsors
IMM 5409 - Co-sponsor of dependents

Applicant side
IMM008 - Generic application form
IMM5490 - Sponsored spouse/partner questionnaire
IMM008DEP - Application for dependents
IMM5669 - Schedule A Background/Declaration
IMM 5476 - if using a representative
Region specific forms

General
IMM 5491 - Checklist
IMM 5401 - Receipt form

Step 2 Wait for letter from CIC

Step 3 fill out and send the following forms to Quebec
Letter from CIC
Undertaking application form - Family class
Sponsor's or Co-signatory Spouse's Declaration of Authorization (for dependents)
Application for Selection Certificate
Sponsor return declaration form
Proof of address in Quebec
Receipt form

Step 4 Wait
MICC sends acceptance letter to CIC
CIC proceeds with application

Does this look right?

Another question I have is regarding by documents we need from Korea.

We are currently in Seoul and leaving for trip to Montreal where we will finish all of the paper work.

Here we have managed to get:
1. Notarized translation of her police report
2. Notarized translation of her family report (Korea doesn't have birth certificates)
3. Notarized translation of her identity card
4. Photocopy of three passports (to prove we traveled together)
5. An English copy of her university transcripts

She is currently working on getting letters from her parents, sisters, and friends (she will also get these notarized).

Are there other documents we need to get and should get since we are now in Korea?

I forgot to mention that she went to the hospital on Monday and should get her medical report next week.

Have we covered our bases in Korea?

i don't know how Korea works sorry; just follow the guides for their region or try to find ppl in the same region; for my region for example we need to give some documents originals too - the police certificate and others; at the applicant side i think u forgot the additional details abt family members form (unless that one was glued with another and i'm not aware of)

and i was not clear before: u don't need co-signer/co-sponsor for either qc or ca; those forms r if u sponsor family members like parents, siblings, anyone EXCEPT spouse/partner

the guides r pretty clear in that aspect; go through them again until it's all very clear; good luck!!
