QSW- is this still within normal processing time?(Damascus)

I received my CSQ in Nov 2008 and applied for a visa through the federal government on dec 2008(AOR 21 dec 2008 Damascus).
it passed now 16 months,they asked me three months ago for an updated police certificate and I haven't heard anything since then.

anyone with similar experience?why it takes a long time?yet i am reading here there are people whose processing time took less than a year and applied months after me.

Im have similar timeline (check my signature).. but recieved med's and done them long time ago, and would have recieved PPR only if they didnt request additional med's last month .. Anyways, many of whome I know who have exactly the same timeline are now in Canada.. but also there are still many people waiting.. Another thing is that many people have been ordered to do the med's but havent recieved the letter, and have been waiting for nothing and i experienced letter loss 2 times ! I suggest you send them an inquiry letter to have a check on your application ..
Btw 3 month after I received the update letter i received medical request .. patience my freind

9-14 months for 80% of the applications at Damascus with CSQ http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/02b-skilled-que.asp#africa

This is just frustrating..
I have to know what to do before September and whether to start the MBA at the AUB or at HEC..I dont want to wait for the fall 2011

On one side I know it shouldn't take any longer but on the other side I know it still could take some time.

My advice to u is to hold on with ur MBA plans to join Montréal HEC (I am doing the same actually!)
