Dear Qorax,
In my Landing visit, i plan to say just short of 7 weeks, safe enough to collect my PR Card, at Toronto. You advised that's the best place to explore job situation.
i have explored many places on the net; even become a member of Hi Hostelling to avail of discounted rates in their member establishments.
May i brief you, especially for those who read this post:

safehomestay sounded very good; a little strict and no-nonsense types - it scared me (their language intimidated me); expensive (to my mind) @ CAD 890/month. Am not keen on this one.

overseashome at Mississagua was very good too; but didn't reply to my email queries and messages on their website inbox despite remembering to refer to you, Qorax, by name and despite mentiong a personal note to Nobin Das (Manager) and owners: Arun and Paramjit. No reply. So out.

Neill Wycik available only during summer vacation months, June to August, were prompt to reply. Ryan (Manager) offered CAD 600 per month followed by CAD 20 for each day above it, which was the best price; however on the net reviews were variable - some very good, others mentioned the words dirty/filthy/ nobody attends to complaints/reception area empty often (since its a student accomodation most part of the year); 'bad' sleezy neighbourhood with people 'soliciting' customers after dark. This accomodation comes under Hi Hostelling. Out.

Sudio 6 and Motel 6 expensive for a stay more than few days.

Comfy Guest House expensive @ CAD ~900/month. Didn't explore this since never mentioned by you on any forum and since Neill Wycik was my 'find', it had left a bad taste in the mouth :( But others could explore and assess this.

On Shore B&B at St Catharines - suggested by a friend. Simply mind blowing location. Very touristy. Likely to be expensive since other similar B&B nearabouts were. Net reviews show food not good if cooked by owner or her son :( No reply to queries on website. No way to contact other than phone, which i wasn't inclined to.

Sunnynewcomer has its own website. 3 locations in Toronto. The one at Don Mills Road at Eglinton Avenue has room for me. Jenny (Manager) very prompt and courteous in replying to queries; very accomodating because i needed to stay 45 days which is 30 days + 15 days. She offered CAD 680 /month and for rext of my stay discounted rate @ CAD 185/ week. Unfortunately there are simply no reviews by customers on the net with which to check on this guest house and its neighbourhood.

Scarborough - private residence, paying guest with 2 veg meals, own bedroom and perhaps own bathroom @ CAD 750/ month. The hosts are from reliable source. Very sweet. Have just written to them about proximity to public transport etc
Will i be too cut off from the life at Toronto if i stay here? After all i don't want to begin my life living more than 8 kms away from Downtown (as per a note by you). Would this be practical in the long run - maybe for networking, yes, because my hosts belong to a spiritual commune.

What would be better for me, Qorax, Sunny or Scarborough?
Thanks _/|\_
