Putting down work email address in CEC application

I put my work email address down in the application, hoping that this adds another layer of proof of my work experience. Then I realized... what if I left my job during this period of time...

Anyone else made similar move (or let's call it a mistake)?

You can email CIC and ask to change the email in case you get a new one.

PR application is your personal issue, so using work email is not a good idea in the first place. Employers can read your every work email so it's not a good idea to have personal info in those. And like you said, if you leave your job, you won't have access to your work email.

Guess that's up to the individual, which email address one uses. If you change your email, inform CIC and they will update it in their systems.
No problem at all.

Plus different places have different security restrictions on the email inflow...

if your email server considers the email CIC sends as spam, it won't even be delivered to you in some cases and in 14 days deleted if it is an Exchange server....

I thought of entering my work address but in the end I gave my GMail id because I can set up filter for CIC emails never to be sent to spam...

I don't know if you can do it but you can set your mailing address to your work...that's what I did....

Really? If the server deems it to be spam, shouldn't it forward the email to me anyway - inside my Junk/Spam inbox? What kind of server will refuse to deliver if it believes you are a getting a junk mail?

It depends upon email server to server....at my place we personally use a lot of TLS rules as well and certain conflict may arise God knows which may cause the email to go to Spam...I do spam monitoring sometimes and I have seen emails being stuck in the server quarantine which means it would not be delivered to the user...it may also depend upon what you use for scanning inbound emails...we use MS EOP...for example; if the SPF check fails on any inbound email for us, it will not be delivered.

The scenarios I have presented are for extreme cases...not necessary that they should apply to you..

keep checking your spam email and hope for the best..

another thing you can try is to log in to ECAS and see if your application has been accepted. ECAS was opened for me about a week before my AOR...check your credit card for $550 charge...

don't worry you should be fine.... try talking to your Email administrator and ask him if he can whitelist cic.gc.ca domain....maybe it is already whitelisted for you organization...

CIC email address itself may not be blacklisted but the contents of the email sometimes trigger a spam...it all depends upon how strictly does your organization implement spam rules..

I used my work email. I think it helps according to my application processing, as it went very smoothly.

Ok, can we please stop scaring people now? There's absolutely no reason for anyone not to use
the work address as the main contact address for CIC.

If you know that much about rules and mail systems, then you would also know how a mail system
detects spam, think about it for a second and then tell me why emails from cic should be blacklisted.

Messages are filtered based on message and subject content, the outgoing email address and their email server.

So, by looking at the content, there's no reason to filter emails from CIC, the email and their email
server is verified and safe too, so there's nothing for anyone to worry about.

The only concern I would have, is the policies about using the work email for personal purposes,
but that's up to the individual to decide.

It's a big world and all companies have different kinds of security systems in place....and I guess you forgot about the part where emails can be blocked by TLS rules as well even when the domain is whitelisted....many people on this forum have had their emails from CIC go to spam...for example see at the link below...

CIC people themselves say that spam filters can cause an issue:

Here is something from the Consulate of Canada in Australia:

To minimize failure of email delivery, it is suggested that you add our email address or domain address (sydney-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca, sydney-im-renseignements @ international.gc.ca and sydney.immigration @ international.gc.ca) in your email address safe list to avoid spam blockers, firewalls and attachment stripping, etc., that may impede/prevent delivery of our email message to you.

My motive is not to scare people but rather inform them...
