PRTD with Expiring Passport

Hi all,

I'll be traveling to my home country (Ireland) in October and staying for ~5 weeks. My PR card expired this year. I applied in May but it's unlikely that I'll have a renewed PR card before I leave.

I meet the PR residency obligations. I'll have 950-960 days in the last five years around the time I leave. During the last five years, however, I've also full-time travelled and lived/worked in 20+ countries.

My Irish passport expires in December and I'll need to renew it once home.

Will the renewal of my passport complicate anything? Is there anything I need to consider to make my life easier when applying for the PRTD once landed in Ireland?

TY.

Give yourself lots of time for the PRTD. Given your complicated travel history it may take a while to get your PRTD approved. Would suggest making copies of your whole passport and also having a list of you entries and exits for your PRTD application. The only potential issue would be wanting to see the physical copy of your old passport during the PRTD process. There is also the chance that a PRTD takes longer than 5 weeks. Would hope that your PR card gets approved which would make your life much easier.

@canuck78 & @miguelca , thanks for the feedback.

I'll be sure to make copies of the passport. I will be able to send the physical copy once I land and during this process, apply for a new passport.

Do you know the circumstances which could lead to the PRTD processing for ~5 weeks?

Processing times depend on how busy the office is and if there is concern about your RO that can delay processing times.
