Hi,
I am doing some research on having my American boyfriend move to Canada and declaring us as common-law. I looked at the checklist and for proof of the common-law relationship, they want you to provide proof of a shared life, like joint bank accounts, shared car insurance, both of our names on a lease for an apartment, etc. My question is doesn't he need to have a Canadian Social Insurance Number to get most of this stuff? Is he able to get Canadian ID on a visitor's visa? I don't think he is. Any information would be appreciated.
