I am looking to get an open work visa for Canada but I have a problem.
If you are a carpenter electrician plasterer etc. you will have done a course in tech to be qualified in this trade,
However if you do my trade which is installing drywall metal partitions and ceilings there is no course you can take in this to become qualified in my country (Ireland). I have been doing this kind of work for 10 years now and feel that I would more than qualified in this trade.

Is there a way to prove this to an acceptable standard when applying for the visa. Australia has a similar system where applicants go to a place where you are accessed in what you do if the applicant has no paper qualifications.

This is the only thing that is stopping me from getting the open visa that I am looking for.
Would someone be able to give me some advice on this, thank you.

I don't know exact requirements for open visa permit but I've researched FSTC demands. They say that you must "have at least two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience)* in a skilled trade within the five years before you apply," and they don't mention education. Also, while serching the way to obtain a CQ, I found out that you must have about 5 years of work experience in the trade (depends on the trade) and you must submit the forms which your present or/and former employer must fill out to vouch your claims. They do ask for your diplomas but I have an impession that they don't change anything because only experience matters.
