Hello all,
I'm a US citizen, and my wife is a Canadian citizen and US permanent resident (soon to be US citizen), and we live together in the US. For various reasons, we're looking at relocating to Canada in the next year or so via family class sponsorship. We have no children/dependents.
Of course, one of the requirements for sponsors living outside Canada is that "You must show that you’ll live in Canada when the sponsored person becomes a permanent resident."
Additionally, the form Sponsorship Evaluation and Relationship Questionnaire [IMM 5532] has a question about when the sponsor is planning to move back to Canada.
In our situation, we would move back at the same time after I've received CoPR and we've tied up loose ends here. Depending on when the CoPR arrives and expires, I may need to do a "soft landing" and delay a permanent move by a few months.
I've seen employment offers mentioned as evidence, but we're both planning on working for ourselves when we move back. I'm currently building a marketing consulting business on the side which I plan to take full-time, and my wife does freelance bookkeeping.
I've also seen evidence of searching for housing as evidence of planning a move, but with our move plans being so far out, how would that work? Should we just email some realtors or property managers about looking for an apartment/house and use that as proof?
Does anyone who went through a similar situation have any suggestions for what sorts of evidence to send in to meet this requirement?
Thanks!
