Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out which provinces will give me extra points if i have 400+ points and which provinces will deduct point because i grauduated from ontario university. I'm mostly interested in BC, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec But i think quebec is a totally different story? I'm really overwhelmed by all the information on websites so I'm here asking for your help.

I THINK Manitoba will deduct point for me because it mentiones that their risk factor is when a candidate has connection to other provinces, and they will deduct points. They mentioned skilled trade or skilled worker but not sure if it also applies to CEC and EE.

I can't find this info for Alberta, so please advise.

I think BC wont deduct points and give me extra points but not really sure..

This info will let me decide what jobs to apply for and where to look because until now ive been applying for jobs in ontario only, and its really limited because I'm not in an industry like software or computer.

I really hope to get your help soon.

Thank you so much.

The deduction of points by Manitoba is only for their own internal ranking for the EOI scoring or ranking for LAAs, and it has nothing to do with the CIC provincial nomination bonus that adds 600 CRS points upon getting nominated.

But to answer your concern, I believe it is only MPNP that may "penalize" that you are coming from another province if you apply to their PNP. I'm not aware of such in BC's scoring system.

As bellaluna said, provinces cannot deduct points from your CRS, which is an automatically assigned score.

Thanks guys for your clarification. So i just want to make sure.. In ontario if i have over 400 points, i can get nominated by ontario pnp to get 400 (or is it 600?) extra. Is this the same case if i get a job in BC, AB, and other provinces even if i graduated from a university in ontario?

That's right, and it'll be 600. Any PNP will give you +600 points, and that's the only influence any province can have on your CRS score. Though they haven't been sending invitations for some time now. Better check the separate topic on this stream.

As far as I know, Ontario is the only province that has the straightforward rule of "CRS score of 400 and you're invited", other provinces' qualification requirements can be different. I'm not 100% sure though as I didn't study the question in depth - it's just what I've understood from reading the forum.

It's not as straightforward, but it'd be in vain for me to go into the details here, as OINP has apparently paused sending invitations right now.

OP, in case you are also interested in staying in Ontario, you can possibly go through the paper-based OINP, but those require job offers, which you mentioned you are having trouble finding in ON.

Thanks so much both. I'm still a bit confused whether i should look for jobs in alberta and bc along with ontario. I'm going for CEC after graduating from Ontario university. Which province do you think will be the best for getting a PR? Before i thought it was ontario because i thought i can get the 600 points if i get my points above 400, but you said even ontario paused that. I still have to get a year of experience because i believe coops don't count. Do you think there is an equal chance to get PR in all three provinces?

I really really appreciate your help everyone. Just need a bit more..

If you can get a job offer in a province of your choice, then that might open you up to apply to their PNP.

But doesn't pnp require sponsorship in some provinces? I was going to go with EE for the points based. Or do you mean EE with PNP nomination?

Yes, if you can get a job offer, might as well find an employer who an help with the PNP process.

Anyway, even some PNPs in EE require a job offer, like BC PNP.
