Hello everyone,

I am in the post ITA form and I am facing a choice about the province/city I'll have to move to, can I choose a province X and then move to Y once my application accepted ?

Thanks.

The system is asking you about your province of choice, the one you're most likely to move to, that doesn't mean you're under obligation to move to that province. You're required to move to a specific province when that province has issued you with a nomination.

Why do you want to choose one and move to another ? Is it that you're still uncertain where you'd like to move ?

Still not fully certain, it depends on a lot of parameters still unknown, my wife is pregnant if I have my visa I'll move to Alberta so she can give birth under medical coverage, if I wait till she gives birth then I'll move to whatever province is the best suited to my abilities, thanks.

Keep in mind anyway that you complete landing formalities at the first point of entry into Canada and not that many international airlines fly direct into Alberta airports, Calgary or Edmonton for example. So possible landing might be transit through Vancouver or Toronto depending on from where you start out.

As EE 456 says if you were applying through PNP then initial landing in a different province someone would probably need to show onward travel to the PNP province but with EE as long as not Quebec you should be fine given nobody really knows at the outset where they might want to end up. Also once a landed PR you can live and work in any province even strange as it seems if under PNP.

Keep in mind there are minimum province residency requirements for medical coverage so suggest if you have not read up on those then do so. Not just to qualify for cover but if you end up using medical facilities then move province.

Thanks, no I am not under a PNP program, so my understanding is that I have a free choice, thanks again.
