Hi all. First time posting here.

I'm going to apply for a visitor visa. I live in Charlotte, NC and want to apply to the Washington DC consulate. However, I have a wedding to attend to in Mexico in mid-April, and I plan to travel to Canada on May, and I'm concerned it will not be ready on time for the wedding or, if I wait until returning from the wedding, for the actual trip on May.

The processing times page says 99% of the applications are done in 28 days or less, but it also says that "applications sent by mail take longer." There is no clue on how "longer" is "longer"

Does anyone know how longer? Any experiences? If it's too long then I'll have to make a express visit to DC and do it in person, but I'd prefer not to travel.

If you are an American citizen, you do not need a visa to enter Canada. If you are not, then you have more than enough time to send your application now. Some visa offices in the US can have your visa approved/denied in a day.

Nice. Thanks! I'm not an American citizen, I'm Mexican and now need a visa because of all those slackers that tried to cheat Canada's refugee policy :(

Thanks for the advice. I guess I'll move forward and send it.
