Can anyone tell me if property ownership here (mortgage on apartment) and in the UK (no mortgage) counts as proof of funds?
I have been living and working in Canada for 3 years and have seen different rules about whether property counts, or do I need the required amount in bank as credit?

You can show your mortgage papers also but for proof of funds, CIC needs to see money available in your account, but still get a second opinion as well.

Hey Annet,
Where are you at the moment? if your application is going through London office they will accept property as proof of funds (apparently this is the only office accepting property). If you’re already in Canada and have work you don’t have to prove your funds the same as you have pr-arranged job in Canada (work in Canada already proves that you have financially stabilized in Canada).
Hope that helps,
Cheers,
Gregor

I am in Canada, but applying through London - so that is great - thanks :)

Annet,
You should be fine with the proof of funds:
1)You are in Canada.
2)- are employed.
3)- have Canadian Experience.
4)- London accepts property as proof funds. The reason for this, I think, is because 2/3rd of the people in UK own their own houses.

Good Luck.
