Statement of Purpose

I was always interested in the practical applications of science in our daily lives. During one of the sessions with my science teacher, I learnt about electronics and my first brush with electronics was at the Electronics Club in school, a common interest group for dilettantes where we were restricted to simple circuit designs and electronic devices like dancing LEDs, smoke detectors and rain alarms and then I decided to study Electronics and Communication Engineering in college.

I Joined Lala Lajpat Rai Institute of Engineering and Technology (Punjab Technical University) for Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering. The academic exposure that I received played the most important role in my development as a student. I was introduced to the world of Analog Electronics, Wireless Communication, Computer Networks, Antenna Theory and Digital Signal Processing. The practical sessions were the ones that I looked forward to the most and the labs were my favorites. I was engaged in various technical initiatives of the college thus got exposed to emerging technologies in the field of electronics engineering. My consistent diligence and academic endeavor resulted into First division in my UG studies in the year 2010

I must say that my excellent academic record made me selected in Surveillance Network Solutions Private Limited which provides Telecom infrastructure services. I joined as an Operations and Maintenance Engineer from July’2010 – May’2012. Where I was responsible for providing technical support to the field teams for installation and commissioning of telecom equipment’s (BTS, Antenna’s etc.) and to manage the targets and quality in accordance to the customer requirement. Later, I joined Telecom Infrastructure Consultancy Services, as an Operation Support Engineer from June-Dec’2012 where I was responsible for Client Servicing and Operations. While working with this organization I got numerous opportunities to work on various telecom systems (CDMA, GSM, Fiber optics etc.) which have enhanced my interest to explore this field further. My determination to specialize in Telecommunication grew many folds when I got recognized by senior management for 2 consecutive months as best NS-1 for my efforts in achieving KPI of cost cutting. They constantly encouraged me to upgrade my technical skills so that I can be given more responsibilities.

Why Wireless Telecommunication:

I wish to pursue Wireless Telecommunication course as it contains contents like Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS)/Long Term Evolution (LTE) (3G and 4G cellular networks), Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET), Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), WiFi, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), Radio-frequency identification (RFID) etc. which are key areas of operation for any Telecom professional. I am confident that the expertise that I develop in above areas during the course of studies will provide a strong boost to my career. Moreover, India's telecommunication network is the second largest in the world based on the total number of telephone users and the major sectors of the Indian telecommunication industry are telephony, internet and television broadcasting, so I would get better job opportunities from many companies in India with good pay scale after completing this course.

Why Humber College:

When I decided to pursue post graduate study in Wireless Telecommunication, I begin research on the various countries and their colleges that had a relevant course. Canada’s high academic standards and welcoming nature to international students encouraged me to choose Canada for my post graduate study. Humber two semester Wireless Telecommunication course along with applied project in second semester aptly met my requirements of detailed course study along with Practical experience. This program structure will provide me excellent platform to implement my theoretical understanding on subjects like Mobile broadband & Wireless Network Analysis in a real time and further fine tune my networking acumen and enhance my career prospects.

Subject: Re-Application for study permit to Canada

Respected Sir/Madam,
I, ______________ had passed my Bachelor of Technology in Electronics & Communication Engineering in 2010 from Lala Lajpat Rai Institute of Engineering and Technology Moga. This institute is affiliated to Punjab Technical University and approved by AICTE, New Delhi.
I had previously submitted my application for a Study Permit on July 10, 2013 at VFS Office, Delhi with file number SXXXXXXX for the Wireless Telecommunication Post Graduate program in Humber Institute of Advanced Learning and Technology (Toronto, Ontario). My application was refused and communicated to me via letter dated August 1, 2013. I am writing to request you to re-consider my visa application that has been rejected due to the following reasons.
• No Travel History
• Purpose of visit
• Family Ties in Canada and in country of residence
• Your proposed studies cannot be considered as a logical progression of studies.
Following is the justification for the entire above mentioned refusal reasons.

1. No Travel History

I have applied first time for the study permit to attain the international level of study experience. I have never visited any other country. After completing my Bachelors in Electronics & Communication Engineering in 2010, I immediately started my career with an organization named Surveillance Network Solutions Private Limited which provides Telecom infrastructure services. I joined as an Operations and Maintenance Engineer in July’2010. Where I was responsible for providing technical support to the field teams for installation and commissioning of telecom equipment’s like Base Transreceiver System (BTS), Multiplexers (Mux), Antenna’s etc. Later, I switched to Telecom Infrastructure Consultancy Services Private Limited, as an Operation Support Engineer in June 2012 where I was responsible for Client Servicing and Operations. During this period I focused only on my work and never think about a holiday trip outside my country due to job constraints. But today I am in a state, where to grab a higher level position I need to update my skills and knowledge in the same field but with advanced and latest technologies. In India, International study is in demand and has privilege over the same courses available here. So I have applied for Post graduate Diploma in Wireless Telecommunication program in Humber Institute and got admitted with student no. XXXXXXXX. This will be my first visit outside my country.

2. Purpose of visit

My purpose of visit to Canada is to pursue higher level studies in the field of Wireless Telecommunications. After a long research I found that one year Post Graduate Diploma in Wireless Telecommunication at Humber Institute aptly met my requirements of detailed course study along with Practical experience. This is a two-semester full time Post Graduate program which covers technologies such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) (3G and 4G cellular networks), Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) & Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (Wi-MAX). These technologies are supposed to be implemented in Indian Telecom industry in coming years, whereas Canada is already using these technologies. Moreover, India's telecommunication network is the second largest in the world based on the total number of telephone users So, I see a great future in this field while returning back home. After completion of this course I can start my professional career in my home country as a wireless telecommunication specialist with a very good pay scale. Keeping all these things in mind I took decision to study in Canada.

3. Family ties in Canada and in country of residence

As far as my family ties in India are concerned, my father is working as a Senior Operator (SOSG3) in ______________________ (Govt. job) which comes under Govt. of India and is earning a good amount of income and access to good amount of savings in his bank account. My mother is a homemaker and I have two elder sisters, both are married and well settled in Delhi, India. I and my family members are genuine people living comfortably in India and are maintaining good financial as well as social status. Being the only son of my parents, I just want to visit Canada to pursue my study and have no intension to stay for a longer period as I am committed towards my duties for my family who will stay in India during my stay in Canada, moreover I am socially committed to my mother land India.

4. Your proposed studies cannot be considered as a logical progression of studies.

During my Bachelors study, I studied 14 subjects related to Telecommunication field like Analog communication Systems, Antenna Theory, Microwave and Radar Engineering, Wireless communication, Digital signal Processing, Computer Networks etc. To obtain the advanced level knowledge of these subjects I selected this program (PG Diploma in Wireless Telecommunication at Humber college). Syllabus of proposed study is similar to my previous studies but with advanced knowledge and latest technologies which will further enhance my telecommunication & networking skills. In the end, I will have a Internationally recognized degree in my hand. So on returning back to my country I can avail the efficient post as a Telecom Specialist. Moreover, International study experience will add extra credits to my resume, which can be very helpful to build my career.

To conclude I request the concerned visa officer at Canadian High Commission to reconsider my application, and allow me to continue my study at Humber College, Canada. I hope that the above-mentioned details will throw light to the facts related to my visa file and help you to process it.
