Proof of work experience,please help !

CIC requires letters of recomenadations from employers,
But how do they check if the letters are ok ?
I heard some members say that CIC may contact employers but can they require more documents like pay sheets ?
or can they require Official proof of contribution like for quebec immigration ?

I believe, that in case they feel that the submitted documents are not enough to conclude the authencity of the work experience, they make calls to the employer to verify the employement. Now it is upto the assessing officer for the information he wants, to assure that the documents or the claimed work experience is genuine. Reason why many applicants tend to send contract letters, pay stubs, tax documents etc as supporting documents along with reference letter just to ascertain the genuinity of the documents. This is my personal opnion and not the facts.
