My husband Aunt is a Canadian National but because of her young son's sudden death and now her bad health she is living back home. When we were applying for PR we did submit her documents including her passport copy, SIN card copy, Heath card copy, her degree with my mother in law degree with there father name on it showing there relationship.
Now the CIC is asking for some proof in form of there bank statements or bills but we don't have them
I know we wont be getting 5points for that, but even without these points also i am still ok with my qualifying points, but after giving the above explanation do you think they will be able to understand it and what will be the impact of this overall on my case.

Thanks
Saima

Best option: tell them about the situation and let them know you cannot produce the statements; as long as you have enough points they will probably let you know they won't award you points for your family...
Now if you do not have enough points without your aunt then thats a whole new scenario ...Its your call

degree certificate is not a recognized proof of relationship. people can have similar or same last name. What you need is a copy of birth certificate, or sworm affidavit, showing the links.

3 birth ceritifcate will do the magic. Your husband, your husband's father and your husband's aunt all need to produce their birth certificates.

Your husband's birth ceritificate will show his father's name and your husband's aunt's birth certificate will show that she was born by the same father or mother as your husband's dad.
