Proof Of Relationship - pls help

Hi friends,

I am to show proof of relation of my uncle and mother when submitting full docs to CHC. He's got canadian PR.
My uncle says there's no need to notorize his docs and he would email me the scanned copies of his PR card, Birth Certificates etc.

What he says is that the canadian officials have access to his information at the click of a button and they only need my docs notorized for authenticity.

Would this be fine.

As far as I understand, to be awarded 5 points for having a relative in Canada one needs to prove 3 things:

1. the relationship one has with the Canadian resident or citizen (by providing copies of birth certificates, pages of passports or other documents showing common parents, ancestry)

2. that the person the applicant relates with is a Permanent Resident or a citizen (by providing copies of PR card, PR Visa, Right of Permanent Resident document, Record of Landing form etc)

3. that the relative is actually living in Canada (copies of recent utility bills, bank or salary statements, current tax returns or anything else that conclusiveless proves that the relative ordinarily lives in Canada. I read somewhere that this document must be issued within the preceding 6 month period; so why not providing the most recent docs?).

Now, if your uncle filled out a Family Tree as part of his immigration application (assuming he too is an immigrant in Canada) in the first place the Family tree will act as a conclusive evidence of the relationship between your uncle and mother (and you). You might ask your uncle if he ever completed an extended Family Tree as part of his immigration application.

I was also asked to provide proof of relationship. You do not need to notarize his documents. Make sure you have birth certificates or marriage certificates that prove beyond doubt your realtionship to him. Sending has canadian passport copy is not enough; after that make sure you send his credit card statement and utility bills or tax returns or pay slips to prove that he is currently residing in Canada. Once you do both, and only photo copies of the same are needed, then you dont have a problem.

thaat clears my doubts. So I needn't worry about getting his docs notarized except for his Birth Certificate.
