Hey Guys.

Is this enough proof of moving back to Canada when my partner gets PR:

Actively still using Canadian credit cards (even though I have lived in Australia for 3 years)

Copies of all my Canadian cards here (like 10 different cards for Shoppers Drug Mary, Save on Foods, etc.) I kept with me because I knew I would be moving back

Canadian bank account info

A statement saying I will move back once my partner gets PR

And in email and Facebook messenger correspondence with family and friends, saying we will be moving to Canada

Or did people also get written letters from family members saying they understand we are moving back too formally signed?

Thanks!

That's rather a limited amount of evidence. The use of credit cards proves nothing. We are still using UK cards after nearly four years away. Same with UK bank accounts.

Ideally you should be able to demonstrate active settlement work, such as job applications, real estate or rental investigation, letters of real support from family or friends offering accommodation while you find a job or a place to live. If you have children, attempts to locate schools etc.

Oooh. Good point. Maybe I should get letters from family then. Our email correspondence with family show that we can stay with them while applying for jobs. But we won’t be buying property for a few years as we need to save up and renting in Vancouver, rental property ads go up only one month in advance, so no point in making an expression of interest until we move to Canada.... jobs as well, applying for jobs to be hired in one year’s time...do businesses actually hold positions for a whole year?

It's tricky to find proof that far in advance... We got a formal statement of indefinite support from my wife's parents in Canada and also provided additional sheets detailing our plans for settling. We explained our intentions for where we were expecting to live and our job prospects, given our experience. However, I suspect that the real keystone of our narrative was my wife stating how much she missed her family in Canada and how desperate she was to return to be with them again.
