We've just got to our checklist stage and it's asking for 'Proof of medical exam'. I thought there are two options:
- we do an upfront medical
OR
- we do a medical AFTER we submit the application

We wanted to go with the second option, so after we submit the application.

Does this mean that we can't do that now?

i believe with express entry , an upfront medical exam is mandatory .

i know it sucks , in case of rejection a lot of money will not be refunded

you have to submit all the docs requested

otherwise you will just delay the process.. if you look around it is the first thing that they check and most of us received an update saying medical passed (first update after submitting docs)

i had to spend over $500 for my medical since i applied from the US (sucks)

Thank you both. How long does it take to get results? We only have 27 days left to submit our application. Additionally, I'm pregnant, so can't have an x-ray!

You don't really need to wait for the results before submission. When you do your upfront med exam, you'll be given a form (proof that you did the med exam) which you will upload.

When I had mine, they said, if there's a problem, they will inform me 3-5 business days. If I don't hear from them by that time, that means they shall submit/forward the results to CIC 7-10 business days (from the date of exam).

yes correct
you only need the receipt which they will give it to you on the day itself.

But call ahead and make an appointment soon, sometimes you they might be busy.. it all depends on the state, country you live in.

Make sure that you go to a medical centre listed by CIC; you will need an ID passport and take your case/aplpication number with you.

also, just FYI if you can't do the x-ray, your PR application will be put on hold until you are able to do it. The doctor will let CIC know that your x-ray wasn't done and you'll have to do it after the baby's born. your PR will not be processed until then.

I did an upfront medical exam, (no ITA yet), sitting at 462, the doctors office did not provide me with any document, just the receipt of the amount I paid for the exam! What do I need now? And is it ok that I went for upfront medical without ITA??
