Hello, I have a friend in Canada. He is a Canadian citizen. We spent a lot of time with our families in my country. He sent me a notarized invitation letter which he is responsible for all my financial needs, accommodation, etc. I am going to apply for a 2 month visitor visa and visit my friend. I think I need to show money around 4500 CAD. I am currently a student and not working, I do not have any income. I'm thinking of taking money from my parents.

When can I withdraw this money?

How long does it have to stay in my account?

A notarized letter means nothing. He can invite you and say that you are staying with him, and responsible for expenses while you are there. $4500 CDN for a two month visit is way too low. That might not even get you a plane ticket. Estimate $2k per week so show at least $15k. You need to show travel history and ties to home country (paid tuition, registration in school, properties, investments). How old are you? A two month visit is way too long if you have never travelled before and only have $4500.

First of all, thank you for your response. I'm 22 years old. I have never traveled abroad before. Since it will be a short visit, I can ask my family to give me the car title and some land titles. Even though I have made my travel plans for 2 months, I can re-plan and apply for 1 month visa. My friend who invited me will get my tickets so I didn't include ticket costs. Of course I will bring some money with me, but mostly my friend will cover all the expenses. Can I withdraw the money after the visa application?

You can apply with what you have but you have raised “red” with IRCC. A car title is not a tie. If your parents are gifting you land titles and you apply the next month, IRCC will wonder why the titles were suddenly transferred when you are 22. Assume the properties are investment. Having your friend pay for airfare also shows that you can not afford your visit. What money are you withdrawing. You show that you have the funds in the account from the last 3 months that can support a month long visit.

In this case, I will apply for a 1-month visa with 7000-8000 CAD. I will do my best to prove my ties with my homeland as much as I can, like my college tuition. Your answers have been very helpful, thank you so much.

All the best. You will want to show that the funds have been in your account for at least 3 months and not dumped into your account today, and then you apply tomorrow. Maintain those funds and don’t withdraw. That would be a red flag.
