Hey, do you folks happen to know, if the bank statements have to be also signed and stamped by the bank? Or just simple print out from my on-line banking account would be fine?

I have a bank account in another country as I currently reside in, so would it be enough, just to print out an on-line account statement?
Or do they want some kind of signature and stamp there?

thanks a lot for your valuable advice.

Hi Rado..

I am taking the liberty to add to your question, since I have a number of questions regarding proof of funds. I hope this is fine.

1) Rado your question: the bank statements have to be also signed and stamped by the bank?
2) Do these funds need to be in the account for a period of time say 3 months, or just funds as of a particular day would be fine?
If we need to show that these funds need to be there for about 3 months, then we will need to submit proofs accordingly? I read in the forum that we should have the funds for 3 months
3) Since most of my savings are in fixed deposits, a bank statement may not be enough. I would need to get a statement from the bank. There kindly suggest a format for this letter that we can get from the bank.
4) Also we need to have CAD11,000 funds. Since the bank statements will be giving the statement in local currency e.g. INR, is there a process by which we can do the conversion and get a letter in CAD?

Please help. This is very urgent planning to submit application in 2 weeks, therefore trying to get the documents ready.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Inexperienced,
To your second question, I think it is not necessary to provide the statement of 3 months since they do not mention it anywhere in the instructions.
This is what they say in the VO instructions for Singapore (maybe New delhi is different - check there)

Provide proof of unencumbered and readily transferable funds in a convertible currency available for settlement in Canada (for you and your family members):
•current bank certification letter; or
•evidence of savings balance; or
•fixed or time deposit statements.

There is no hint of having to submit at least 3 statements of the same account.
If they do not want the signatures and stamps however, it would be easy to submit 3 statement print-outs.

But that is just my opinion.
