Proof of Funds - where does the money come from???

Just curious about the Proof of Funds and how everyone is getting this together. We are applying as a family of 3 and need to show US$13,963.38. We are saving like crazy and hopefully have enough by the time we make it out of the pool. If we are still missing something when we make it out of the pool we have a family member that has promised to give us the difference. I hope we don't need to because I don't want to have to answer the question of some money being deposited into our account randomly. How did you all raise your funds? Saving or gifts? Anyone else still saving it up and hoping for the best?

good question ... I am also in US . Its my savings here - 4 yrs of savings.

If the family member is giving you the funds, all you need is a notarized statement from them establishing that the money is a gift, and they do not expect you to return it, and there will be no questions asked.
