Hi All,

Myself and my wife are planning to migrate to Canada through Canada Express Entry for Skilled Migrants. We currently have a score of 462. I need clarification about proof of funds. My wife studied and lived in Canada. So she has Canadian bank account. She has savings of around 10000 CAD(for more than 5 months). I am the primary applicant and i plan to obtain Power of Attorney for my wife's bank account. The issue is, in my account we have another 7000 CAD but it was only there for less than 2 months.

I am thinking of transferring my 7000 CAD to her account and showing this total of 17000 CAD as proof of funds. As primary applicant do i need to also show my bank account? or Is it sufficient to show my wife's account and also provide Power of Attorney document for immigration authorities?

We are planning to enter Express Entry pool. With current cut off points, it is certain that we will be invited to apply. In that case i am worried about not having an average balance of 15,312 CAD as proof of funds.

I would really appreciate your advice here. Please only provide advice that you are certain about. Not your opinion or assumptions.

Thank you.

Best Regards,
Raj.

Hi Raj,

If you are the primary applicant, then it is best to have it under your name. Suggest that you transfer the money into your wife's account and then make that account a joint account. That way your name is there. Get the bank to write a letter according the lists that CIC requires and that should be good. If you do it asap by the time you get invited the money will be in the bank longer. Alternatively you dont transfer and just make your wife's account your joint account so your name is there and get both banks to write the bank balance letter for you.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
1 - As long as she is accompanying the money does not have to be under your name. You are free to get whatever makes you happy (Power of Attorney or NOC) but it is not needed.

2 - You can use her bank account only but you will have to explain the source of those 7k.

3 - Not having the av. balance of 15,312 for the past 6 months is irrelevant. As long as she can explain the source of sudden or suspicious transfers the money can be in her bank account for a single day for all IRCC cares.

4 - Ignore the unecessary approach of the post above.
