Hello friends,

I will be soon applying through CHC Islamabad with my wife and three children as accompanying dependents. I have the following questions about proof of funds.

1. My wife has a specific amount in Pakistani rupees fixed depositted in a bank in Karachi. Can I show my wife's bank certificates for fixed depositted amount as proof of funds? The certificates are on my wife's name.

2. I have heard that we can't show jewellery and car as proof of funds. But if I sell off my car or my wife's jewellery to make up to the required funds, do you think this will be acceptable? Because after all I will not be taking this money from anyone else. It's my and my wife's personal property that we will sell off to make up to the required funds.

3. Can I submit all the three things together to show the proof of total funds i.e. 1) my bank statement, 2) my wife's bank certificates for the fixed deposit amounts, 3) another bank statement after depositing into my account the amount that we collect after selling off some of our property (car or jewellery)?

4. Is this OK to show the amount that is on my wife's name and not mine? I mean, the bank certificates for fixed depositted amount and jewellery? Because the bank certificates are on my wife's name and the jewellery also belongs to my wife (which she is willing to sell off a part of it if the need arises).

Please advise.

In the intial stage you dont have to show proof for bank balance.
So dont need to sell anything at this time.. But do an assessment on the value and provide that figure as supporting amount.

Are you talking of applying to Sydney under FSW cat 1? If yes then the answer above is relevant

Yes, you can. As long as you wife is accompanying you at the time you are landing, it will be fine. Show proof of funds in your name and your wife's name. Show whatever you got.

Snr. Colleagues
Sorry to bother u on this, I know Ive read it somewhere on the forum but cant remember where. I need to know what rate I can use to convert the required funds to my own currency. Can I use the current exchange rate on the internet or where can I get the current exchange rate?
Thanks

For currency conversion -
http://www.xe.com/ucc/

also you can search this in google.com

besides you can prepare a cover letter mentioning the rate of conversion and the date of evaluation of your funds.
Keep the actual document (home evaluation paper, FD,savings account balance ) in your home country currency and give the break-up on your cover letter based on that day's exchange rate.

I hope it should work.
