Proof of funds - partner is Canadian Citizen

Hi all,

I am posting on behalf of a friend. He is a Canadian citizen, and his girlfriend is eligible under Federal Skilled Workers program to apply for PR. He wants to know if he can write some kind of letter stating that he will financially support her when she moves to Canada? Or is there another process to follow to declare this?

Note that they haven't started the application process yet

Short answer is no. The funds need to be in her name.
