Proof of funds needed in case of LMIA Job?

Hi guys! This is my first post and I've recently just started to become interested in applying for PR in Canada. I am just about to take my IELTS, and after that plan to create my profile and get a job, which would be an LMIA one (CEC). I currently have no Canada work experience and I am not in Canada (I have never been to Canada but I've always loved it, so this is two birds with one stone).

So my concern is proof of funds. I don't have 12k CAD, and while I can swallow my pride to ask some family members for financial support, I would really like to make sure that it is necessary. Suppose I get an offer for an LMIA job, would I still need to show proof of funds amounting to 12k CAD? If not, do I need to show any acceptable amount? I have read up on this on different forums and sites, but the answer is a little confusing especially when the topic is on PR seekers from abroad (the answer seems to be "not necessary" for people already working and living in Canada).

I would appreciate your help guys. Thanks so much in advance.

Just to be clear, you can't apply for CEC until you have complete at least one year of full time work experience in Canada. So once you have a job and are working in Canada, you would need to wait for a year to pass before you can create a profile and be selected under CEC.

If you have no work experience in Canada you would be applying under FSW supported by a job offer and approved LMIA.

Hate to be a Debbie downer but finding a job with Canada experience with an Lmia is nearly impossible so finding one with no experience will be very tough and almost impossible depending on your job of course :)

Thank you for reply Scylla! I think I was confused because I had thought I would be applying for the CEC instead for the FSW (sorry). Now that I'm sure I'm applying for the FSW, the proof of funds is therefore a definite yes I assume :)?

You're not being a Debbie Downer at all Banff2015, and I appreciate the info/reality check. I have around 4 years of experience in a specific field, but that's in my home country. I'll try to look around for some other people's experiences with LMIA, though, or start a new thread so I can get a better understanding of my chances.

I recently got PR as an inland FSW with an LMIA job offer. The CIC website says you aren't supposed to have to show PoF. However, myself and several other co-workers were asked to show proof of funds. Our company HR manager and lawyers didn't know why we were being asked, but thought it might just be a mistake because the system is so new.
So, I would err on the side of caution and be prepared to show PoF in case they ask for it.

yes you need to show funds though you have lmia job offer bt nt as of the amount in table mentioned for those who dont have job offer...eve CEC applicant has been asked for funds..showing 0 amount in funds is ofcourse surprising for VO..you are in canada and u have 0 amount???
