Hi everyone. I'm sitting with a score of 457 waiting to be picked in next draw. I have a question on proof of funds and here is my situation. I'm looking for some expert advice.
I'm from India and I'm working in US for the last 2 years but I have paid my student loan recently so all my savings from the last 2 years are exhausted.
1)Currently I hold a bank balance of about 2000$. - My salary gets deposited to this account. If I don't do any transactions from this account the next 3 months I will probably end up with a balance of about 11000$.
2)I have a 401K account which currently has a balance of $9500. In next 3 months this balance will be about $11000.

What are my options to show the the required $12300 (I'm single applicant)
1)Can I use my 401k and the amount in my bank balance together by the end of next 3 months?
2)Can I deposit any money externally into my bank account during the next 3 month period (not a huge amount, about 2000$ or so) so that I can end up with a balance of about $13000 in next 3 months?
3)How does a gift deed work? I have no bank accounts back home in India. But my parents in India should be able to gift me the needed money if I want.
I'm looking for some advice on how I should proceed with this task?
Thanks.

Not sure what a 401K account is. You can show funds from different accounts as long as the money is readily accessible, i.e. not some fixed term saving account where you can't withdraw the money at a moment's notice.

You need to show balance for six months, so 3 months isn't going to work.

There're plenty of threads in forum on gift deeds, just do a search.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. A 401k is a retirement fund and can be accessible if needed.
So I should have 12,300 or more in my bank account for the last 6 months and not by the day I submit the statements?

No the day you submit the statements provided you didn't have any suspiciously large transactions during the past 6 months

Think I should be able to satisfy that without any large transactions in the last 6 months. Also how about my 401k (Retirement) account. Can I rely on it as a primary source for proof of funds?
