Proof of funds (message from IRCC)

Dear friends. I got request to provid additional document by IRCC. My family will accompany me and IRCC asked for proof of funds. I applied WP and got fellowship with annual salary of 50,000 CAD.

What should I do no?

How many people in your family? They want to see POF for the number of people in your family. If your back account has little savings how were you going to settle in Canada (rent, furniture, etc.).

I would not borrow funds from a friend. IRCC may ask you for evidence of the origins of these funds and if that happens, borrowed funds will create a bigger problem than you have now.

I'll be honest, a salary of $50K is pretty low for a family of 5. I think it's not surprising that IRCC is asking you for proof of savings. They are concerned about how you will support your family once in Canada.

I would say that the more you can show in savings the better. There's no specific amount. Don't borrow funds. All of the funds should be yours / your spouse's.

Family of 5, how much should I show in my account?

If you want to base it off of immigration proof of funds then $27,000. Where are you moving to…a small town or large city because housing is expensive. To get set up in Canada is expensive and $50k is not a lot for a family of 5.

$27K is required for family of 5 annually; so you have to consider adding flight money for 5 people, and money for any other expenditure.
