Joint accounts with people other than accompanying spouse are not acceptable. You can open a new account in your name and transfer all the money, by doing the following,
1.Get a letter from your dad that the money is yours and provide the PF docs proof for the same.
2.Get a gift deed from your dad.

what my bank manager suggested is that i could get a letter from my dad to get his name removed from the account and that ways the bank statement would have me as the individual holder ...can this be possibly done ..or is there a prob doing so??

Why pushing yourself? Open a new account, less documents and should not be a problem at all.
