Hello all

Im a US citizen currently living abroad. I applied for stuyd permit online from the middle east and got rejected.

Im welling to try applying for study permit at thebport of entry as i have no time to reapply and my school will start soon

My question is: at the port of entry when they ask for the proof of funds can it be in cash ? Like having 35K$ on me?
Or they need and actual bank statment from my sponsor?

Any suggestion or advice
thanks

You'll need a 4 month bank statement with your tuition + $10,000 + around $3,000 for flight expenses. So if your tuition is $20,000 you'll need to show $33,000

Thanks i know that information but can i have this amount in cash with me?
You must declare 10k CDN or more in any currency and with such a large amount you may get asked to prove it is yours with bank statements to back it up.

And having been rejected once for a study permit what makes you think will be any different at port of entry assuming you can even apply there having been already rejected once ?

Have you fixed any reasons for rejection even ?

What Bs65 said is true. You need a bank statement because otherwise how would they know where that money came from? You can't carry around $35K just like that.
Out of curiosity, why Canada if you can study in the US for (probably) cheaper tuition?

wasnt questioning the ability as a US citizen to apply at PoE just the fact you were rejected first time and now you say financial reasons but turn up at POE with 35 k cash would that not seem strange if you were CBSA ? Just saying although if works then good luck.

Totally agreed with Bs65. In the customs form, if you have more than 10k in cash, you have to provide information and documents for that. You can;t just keep 35k.

Thank you all

The reason i want to carry that amount in cash is my residence country doesnt have a traveller cheque..the only way is wire transfer to a bank which i dont have in canada or send a western union from my name to my name and when i enter canada claim it my self ( but what if they ddnt let me in)?
So thats all.
As far for us universities i like canada more andi have some friends there
