Hi,

I have received my PR in September. I am planning to move there by December 1st week (alone).
For my express entry profile i had shown more than 12,300$ as proof of funds.
How much amount do i need to show when i enter canada ?

1) Can it be less than the amount i had shown but greater than 12,300$ ( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp ) ?

2) In what form do i need to take that amount with me provided I have HDFC bank account.?

Thank you in advance.

If you are carrying bank statements then ensure they are latest ones last few months. Though most of the time one is not asked any question on POF however, we need to be ensure from our side that we can prove that we have the required funds. I was also in a similar dilemma whether the documents I had were complete or not. Just sharing what I did from my side, might or might not be absolutely correct
- last 6 months bank statement
- as the statements were computer generated got the same stamped from my bank
- got a letter from my bank showing the balance I had. This letter needs to be on bank letter head and stamped. Also, got it close to my date of travel.
- ensured I had internet access to my account. Worst scenario I could have proved that there is money in my account by logging onto it.
- There can be questions on how one would be moving funds to Canada. Ensured I had an international debit card for the above account so that I would be in a position to withdraw money in Canada.

From all these documents. Did you have to show anything at all ?
My only concern is what if i bring a little less amount than what i had shown in express entry ?

You don't need to bring or carry the whole amount of money when landing. What you need to show is a proof (such as a bank statement) that you have the required funds to support yourself and your family after you arrive in Canada. In addition, you may need some cash for the first couple of days/weeks until you settle. Good Luck!
