Hi everyone. I have a question regarding proof of funds. It says in the site that I can bring cash, or any negotiable instrument in bearer form.
I have inquired with the banks here in the Philippines and it looks like my choices are limited, because:
1. A Manager's Check has to be in the form of Philippine Pesos, therefore I won't be able to use it in Canada
2. They don't issue traveler's cheques anymore
The options they gave me were:
A. Bring all my funds in cash (in this case I will have to buy Canadian dollars and do it staggered if the bank has limited notes)
B. Wire transfer my money from my bank in the Philippines to my new bank in Canada. This has to be done after I open a new account in Canada.
Option B seems to be the better option. However, this is my question: can I show the border agents at the point of entry a bank certification that I have my money here in the Philippines? And then inform the agents that I will transfer the money by wire as soon as I open an account in Canada?
Will the border agents accept this? I can't find a similar case anywhere in the CIC websites or the CSBA site.
I hope someone can advise me on this.
Thanks!
