Hi everyone,

Please help!
I've got a rejection on my mothers online application for Super Visa. The reason is that she doesn't have enough funds and she won't be able to pay for her stay in Canada even though we mentioned in our letter of invitation that all the expenses will be on us (we have PR in Canada). What would you suggest? What if we apply now for regular travel visa just for 1 months? Will it help? We are expecting a child in January and want her to be with us!
What if my brother who is living at the same city as my mom will provide a letter that he can support her travel expenses and pay for her trip and tickets?
We will also attach her employment letter and pension proof. But the problem is that she doesn't have a bank account to show her available funds....and even if she deposits her money to the new account will it make sense since there will be just a balance and no statement for the last 6 months as they require?

Thank you in advance!

Did you provide CIC with your proof of income? I don't think a simple letter of invitation is enough to convince them as it is explained on the CIC website.

Yes, we provided our letter of employment with annual salaries, T4, notice of assessment, pay stubs, bank statements. Probably it's not enough for them??? :-(

did your income exceed the LICO?

How many family members and how much income did you show?

Our family annual income is $77,000. I included myself, my husband, our son and mother (who wants to visit us) - 4 people in household. Wouldn't it be enough?

Your income should match or exceed any corresponding size of LICO. ie: if you have a family size of 3, you should count it size 4(including your mom)->the corresponding LICO would be $44,340(you should check the LICO info on CIC website. it doesnt let me post it here). So that's what your income should be . However if you have less than that, your partner you can also provide his/her income info to egal or exceed $44,340.I believe that's how they do it.But you should double check with them. Good luck!

That's what I was thinking - $77,000 is more than $44,340 (for 4 family members)......It means our LICO is exceeding the minimum...Is that correct?

It's way over what is required..did you buy the medical insurance??? I am not really sure why they rejected your application if you have proof of income, and everything that they have asked. May be you may need to get a third party involved if CIC still rejects your application. Because it doesn't make sense at all, if they said you don't have enough fund while you provided a proof of income of $77,000..something is wrong, and they shouldn't say you don't have enough fund.

Is your mother employed or retired? You mentioned about her employment letter as well as pension proof.

What did you state as purpose of her visit?

The visa officer will consider your mother's financial situation (and not just your finances)..... did she not show any finances at all? Apart from the pension, does she have any financial investments (liquid or locked-in)?

Also, the visa officer will consider her ties to her home country even for a super visa.... what did she show for this?

My mom is retired, but she is still working. We haven't even mentioned her salary and pension because it is too small (about $5000.00 annually for both salary and pension) and we haven't provided that because we thought our income would be enough. We will provide it this time. She doesn't have any other investments....All her funds she saved at home (about $4000) - what we gonna do with this?

Purpose of visit - we wrote "Family visit" (for 1 year) - probably it was too much....

Do you think, Bryanna, it will help now if in our 2nd application we include her pay stubs, letter of employment, pension letter and if we apply just for regular temporary visa stating that her visit will last 1 months (only for help with the newborn)? Or do we still can to apply for Super Visa?

What can you suggest? I don't want to miss anything and get the refusal again.....:-(

Thank you all for your help!!!!!

Hi,

Employment is a good tie.... even if the salary is low.... it shows a reason to return to the home country.... if your mom took up employment (after retirement) just to keep herself busy/continue earning an income then you can mention this.

If she is employed then she cannot take a long vacation in Canada.... as this will contradict the strong employment tie.

As you mentioned a visit of 1 year in your previous application.... and now if you state she is employed + 1 month visit.... then this could lead to suspicion. So, you must explain this.

Whether it's a TRV or Super visa, your mom must show she has some finances.... if she lives with your brother then he can provide a letter of financial support + purchase (for example) Forex cards topped with CAD in your mom's name.... submit proofs of the Forex card + proof of purchase (his bank statement showing this purchase and bank balance).

The amount topped up on the Forex card can be maybe CAD 3-4000 for a 3-4 weeks TRV application + provisional ticket bookings (this should be mentioned in your brother's letter of financial support).

Apart from this, your mom can show other reasons to return to her home country..... such as other family members who live with her (especially dependent relatives) + any property or land ownership + lease agreement for accommodation, etc.

She can also submit an itinerary of places she will visit, relatives/friends to meet, etc.... and mention that you as the host will take care of her accommodation/travel and living expenses during her visit.

Please do not give reasons as *wanting to help with the newborn* unless you have a medical complication backed by a doctor's note.... or if only your mom can help you in this situation. Reasons like *wanting to help/take care of the newborn* could lead to refusal as it means working illegally on a TRV even if it is unpaid

Cheers :)
