Hello I'm a Mexican student who will soon start stutying for a PhD in Canada.

I have a question and I hope someone can help me with it.

I was reading the requirements for the study permit specifically the Financial support section.

So, basically It says that I need to have proof of at least 10k + tuition fees per year for myself as a student, and aditional 4k for a family member (wife). The current scholarship I'm recieving will give me 11k + tuition fees, meaning that I need an extra proof of 3k for my wife's financial support. Luckly for me my parents are going to be able to support me with those extra 3k per year.

So my questions exactly is: "If my parents are going to give me those extra 3k/year, how can I give proof of this". Do I need to have a letter signed from them?, Do I need them to transfer me the money before?, Do I need the bring their bank status?.

Please, I need help with this, thank you!

Think you should show more funds. That list is for Quebec. $11000 won't be enough to cover your living costs in many Canadian cities. 3K isn't a lot for your husband in case he is not able to work. I would always show more financial resources but for advanced post secondary degrees families aren't often refused permits and visas. It is pretty common that spouses of international students get denied and because it says you can apply people have unfortunately assumed that it was a guaranteed thing.

Why can't you come first and then invite your spouse/dependent. I found this to be effective. You leaving your family is a strong indication for a tie to your country, an evidence for a visa office you would r
