Hey guys, I kind of don't understand what this question means. If I'm inviting my father-in-law which is a seafarer and earns pretty decent, what would he need to submit for this requirement? Says to submit as many as you can, but I think the only one that's applicable for him is a bank draft am I right?

Thanks!

  • proof of a Canadian bank account in the name of the person providing you with money if funds have been transferred to Canada
  • proof of a student/education loan from a financial institution
  • bank statements for the past four months
  • a bank draft in convertible currency
  • proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees
  • a letter from the person or institution providing you with money
  • proof of funding paid from within Canada if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program

Hi,

What are you supporting your father-in-law for: a TRV, super visa or a study permit?

BTW for a TRV, your father-in-law must prove he has adequate financial resources to pay for his visit and airfare

Cheers

Sorry, I guess I should've mentioned. I'm inviting him for a Tourist visa, was planning on doing super visa but my wife and I decided to get him just the tourist one since he wont be here that long. He'll be in and out of Canada every so often.

Like I've mentioned earlier, for a TRV, your father-in-law must prove he has adequate finances of his own to afford the visit and airfare. Do check the Visa Office instructions in this link for suggested financial documents:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp

As the Canadian host, it is not mandatory for you to provide any financial documents for a TRV. If you choose to submit these, you can include copies of your T4/NOA, pay slips, bank statements, etc
