Proof of financial assistance

My sponsorship application has been approved. Got Passport request on 24th Sep. Now, in an email reply, CIC New Delhi is asking for

"Proof of financial assistance"

Any idea what this really means? I have already sent Option C printout and letter from employer stating my salary.
Do they mean, bank statement or something like a legal paper that I sign and confirm that I will support my spouse upon approval ?

Very confused here.. Pls help.

It means you need to show if you are supporting your spouse financially. Money transfer forms, wire transfer forms, that kind of thing.

Thanks for your comment CharlieD10. My spouse is currently living with my parents and I do not support financially. My parents are supporting her financially. Hence I have not had a chance to transfer any money whatsoever.

Moreover, I have already signed the sponsorship agreement that clearly states that I am bound by law to financially support for 3 years.

Could it also means, They want to see the financial strength of the sponsor ?

@ Akrk: No they do not doubt your financial strenght. They have already approved you as a sponsor. This is what CPC -M does. So they trust you shall be able to support her financially once she lands in Canada. What they want to see is for now, until the process is goin on, are you supporting her financially. Apparently, your wife has said No to this question in the documents. I would suggest you explain that she is living with your parents who are supporting her until the paper work is finished. If i were you, i might just consult a lawyer friend/ someone who knows how we could possibly build a case which sufficiently proves that you and your family are still completely responsible for your wife. May be get a letter from your father or something. I am going to check with a friend for you and get back again.

Thanks a lot Guptash. I was thinking that .. may be, I will ask my wife to write a letter.. stating that she stays with my parents and they take care of her financially..
