What is sufficient proof of family ties to ones home country? Are there other documents other then birth certificates you can provide that would be sufficient?
Also if one is taking care of his mother both financially and with day to day life (due to her recquiring a cane to walk from and accident) is it a good idea to provide a letter from a DR stating her condition and that I take care of her?

Birth certificate is not a tie.

No documents really. What htey want to see is that your family is there, where "family" only consideres wife-husband-children. Your parents are not a tie.

You can try. This is tricky as from the sound of it you might be wanting to travel to Canada to get a job and then send money to your mother to keep up with expenses.

You would have to make a strong case.
