Hello All,

I am nearly done with collection of documents for my full application. For exp/ref letter from my current employer, its obvious that I cannot approach them directly. I am planning to take print-screen/snap-shot of the mails and meetings I have sent/held as a manager, highlighting my duties in planning, organizing and controlling software projects/teams; develop and implement new procedures in the team; recruit software engineers; approve leave requests, etc.

My question is: Are snap-shots of mails sufficient? Has anyone done it this way and been successful in getting medicals/visa?

PS: Yes, I will be showing my salary slips and contract letter, but in it, the designation mentioned is 'Senior Test Engineer'.

Is there anything I need to do differently? Anything additional that I can show?

I honestly don't think that will work, you are claiming to be a "manager" your contract states that you are "senior test engineer" ND will be doubtful of claimed experience.

True, but then, I am doing all the roles and duties of a QA Manager (hiring, planning/controlling project/personnel, approving leave applications, etc; except project budgeting) since more than 1 year. Wont roles outweigh designation/title in that case?

Also, I can show proofs for all those roles mentioned above by printing 'print-screens' of such mails/documents. Is there any other way I can prove that I am performing those duties?

Hi,

I suggest its better to be honest with your current employer and get the letter.

Applying for PR is not a offence and you don't need to be scared to convey this to your employer.

CIC will not accept any of these print screens or mail proofs.

I cannot say much about the "print screens" but your contract document, salary slip and any other appointment letter should be fine to prove that you work for the current company. However, as far I know the responsibilities are not mentioned in some letters and hence it will be tough for you to prove that your skills match NOC 0213 (assuming that you applied under this NOC). Please do not take my word as a final judgement, this is just my assumption. Do consult the senior members on going forward. All the very best and wish you all the success.

I do not agree with your suggestion on being honest with the employer. Afterall one can never predict the outcome of discussing personal matters with office seniors. Shareit must be cautious in approaching the concerned people because of the unpredictable environment.

But CIC requires Roles and responsibilites from Current Employer in company letter head. They have a catch there.

shareit, my opinion is the e-mails and print screens may not serve the purpose. Also I am not sure if this is classified comapny information and if you can share it with CHC.

It will be hard to prove your duties without reference letter as contract says senior test engineer. It is true that R&R over rides the job title but there should be an evidence for R&R and as per CHC ND requirement it can be best done vis reference letter.

In case you can not get reference letter, explain to CHC your apprehensions, why did you not ask one from employer.

Well, so what do I do now? :-\

I am doing the managerial duties ("substantial part of the Main Duties of NOC 0213). But my contract letter says I am a 'Senior Test Engineer'. There is a risk to my current job if I ask my current employer for a reference letter. All I have are the mails to prove it.

Will it suffice if I give a written explanation of WHY I cannot get a reference letter from my current employer (I have obtained ref letters from my 3 ex-employers and have a total work exp of close to 8 years)?

Has this worked for anyone you know?

Managers in our company are not allowed to sign and issue anything on official letter head. So I obtained a letter with dates and job title from HR and reference letter on plain paper from my manager listing my roles and responsibilities. I have submitted this to ND. I hope this works. Can you get your job duties on a plain paper? BTW, I also attached a copy of org chart from intranet site to prove that guy signing is my manager.
